WALT: investigate  traditional gathering and  harvesting  of Kai Where did our food come from? Gathering kai has evolved over time, but the aspect of it has practically is the same. When Pākehā settlers arrived in Aotearoa(the British people),  Māori  embraced their new foods   they brought into our country, and began to incorporate  them in our food . These crops included wheat, potatoes, maize, carrots, cabbage and other vegetables.  Māori  also began raising sheep, pigs, goats and poultry. Is kai a name? Kai  has been know to be a   boy's name   (also used as   girl's though not preferred) , it is pronounced kye. It is of Welsh, Scandinavian and Greek origin.
